When I think about the Bass music from Florida and Georgia back in teh 80's and early 90's It upsets me that it was isolated to that region until its ultimte demise. Military members and brats like myself the music took this music international and tired our best to expose it to the rest of the world. I digress...
This car used to be my theme song for like two summers I used to drive my mom's '86 Honda Accord, but when I was a passenger in my man Rod's Eldorado is when we got major bump and the girls loved it.

1985 or so is the first time I ever heard a Jam Pony Express tape in my cousins truck with the 12's in the back. Even as a 10 year old I instantly recognized the genius of this Dj and emceeing crew. The history behind JPE as explained by the website jamponyexpress.net is
"Jam Pony Express DJs began in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. in 1981. It's original members are DJ Slick Vic, Diamond Dick, Hot Rod and Mr. M.B. Later members included Lock Cool Jock, Sporty "J" and Big Ace. Jam Pony's claim to fame was "regulating" on the microphone by cutting the music down and talking over the lyrics to create a new song."
I have been sitting on my JPE tapes (Mp3's) for quite sometime and actually the last time I ever brought them to the internet was back when I had my radio show Before We Were Kings on dirtysouthradioonline.com . Then I seen a twitter (click here to follow me on Twitter) from Kyambo a.k.a Hip Hop of Roc-A-Fella fame asking for JPE music and I was blown away. I have never in all my years ever heard a born and raised NYC more specifically Brooklyn cat ask about Jam Pony. Immediately I knew I had to upload these tapes for the world to hear. So as I remember music that shaped my life it's a must that Jam Pony Express be mentioned with the greats. I have several tapes in the arsenal, but I can't just drop them all at once. Periodically I will up a different tape from the catalog.
This first one is circa 85-86 featuring Slick Vic and Body Guard Big Ace and it's a great one to set it off with too. Kyambo enjoy my dude! Everyone trust me when I say you want to be able to say you've experienced Jam Pony Express in your lifetime.

I've had this series of mixtapes in my Ipod for quite sometime now and thought to myself "Self....why don't you post a link to this classic material that the cats at Rub Radio blessed you with" and upon responding to myself "You're right let's do that"..... Every other day or so I will link you to one of my favorite mixes that were mixed by Cosmo, Eleven & Ayres (I seen Cosmo rock a show in Atlanta last year and it was truly inspirational!!). Ok I had to get one more in and then it's back to Hip Hop I promise.
I just caught a BS ticket from the Sandy Springs blue squad (Police) and after watching this video I know that I'll definitely be taking visual aide to my court date. I might even hire this guy to represent me.
This is an Overlapsation situation!
