So im driving once again with the Ipod on random when all of a sudden "Shit is real right here, Roc-A-Fella....L.O.X taken the streets over..." comes blaring out of all 10 or so speakers in the whip. next thing I know Im topping 95mph (forgetting that I just left traffic court an hour earlier) on GA400 giving a one man concert where I play every character. Imediattley I afterwards I said Im gonna compile a list of great posse cuts and let the peopl vote on which is the best. I am well aware that the list can easily hold 20 songs but for simplicity I narrowed this one down to 5. I may just run a bracket style competition to decided the ultimate posse cut! Now go VOTE

So this morning while driving in the rain (pouring) I had my Ipod on random like it is every morning and Mos Def's "Umi Says" came on and put me in a new space mentally. This past week was really crazy for not only me, but for a lot of people in corporate America with all the “corporate restructuring” which is a fancy term for lay-offs. In my case I was able to maintain my leverage with the infrastructure of AIG and keep my position, but for about 100 others they weren’t as lucky and I feel bad for the ones that were not prepared financial for what may be to come. Thinking about all of this I realized that if I would have been “phased out” affected financially of course, but mentally I am strong like bull because the confidence that greater things are coming has overtaken any and all fears I once had over life in general.

If you don’t know by now then you should be aware that I am Hip Hop throughout my entire body. I was raised and educated by Hip Hop music and the culture. I know what to play that will intensify (or neutralize) my feelings at the time. Today 10/24/2008 (one day after my youngest son turned 9yrs old [thank you god]) I am in a positive and uplifting mood and want to pass that along to those whom may not be. I consider myself a spiritual person as oppose to religious, but I do believe I am protected by higher powers (what’s up Dad!) that what over and guide me spiritually in life and help me stay out of serious trouble. I say this to say that if you are reading this blog and your life is not where you want it to be on this day that you need to hold on and keep the faith because I truly believe that in due time you will get your time, but you have to be ready. By ready I mean you have to de clog your spirit! I say de clog instead of unclog on purpose because to me unclog means to arrange what is already there, but if you de clog, whatever is troubling is completely removed to allow room for more positive energy to embed itself.

I will not go into a sermon and get away from what I really want you to feel today. Below are two videos which I listen too quite often and most of you know them, but haven’t heard them in quite some time and for the rest this will be you first time. The first video of course is Mos Def – Umi Says followed by one of the most inspirational songs I have ever heard come out of the Hip Hop culture, It is called Due Time by Outkast ft. Cee lo. “Struggling is just a part of my day, many obstacles have been placed in my way. I know the only reason that I make it through, is because I never stopped believing in you…”Cee lo. I have this line permanently embedded in my brain like a bible verse….a Hip Hop bible verse. Anyway enjoy the videos and I hope all is well with you.

I remember it like it was yesterday. My older cousin drove up from my home town Blakely Georgia to Columbus G.A to go see James Todd Smith live in concert. They were still on a high after seeing the Beastie Boys with naked girls dancing in cages and drunken stoopers. Anyway after the show they told me that LL cold rocked the spot, but they heard on the way out that Columbus PD took Cool J into custody for lewd conduct. Watch the clip to see who he places the blame on.

*note* A few weeks later Bobby Brown was arrested in Columbus for the exact same charge

It's crazy how synonymous Dancehall is to Hip Hop, but it to has lost that feeling would you agree? It is moments like this classic battle between dancehall kings Ninja Man and Super Cat that bring back the Nostalgia (or Nostylegia) for people like me. This is from 1991 but still effects me like it went down yesterday!

Here we go with yet another Name That Artist trivia question. This guy here was dissed by my favorite female emceee back in the days which was quite funny because she wasn't having it at all with his weak game. Not one to quit he started targeting other young women, but the issue this time around was every woman he approached was already taken. Not one to be negative though he kept it moving and eventually bagged a real nice P.Y.T. Who is he?

Level of difficulty: 3

Everyone knows that I am the biggest fan of Hip Hop and try my best to school whoever wants to learn about the Golden Era of Hip Hop. Kanye sent a message on Twitter about doing what you loved and while I always have, it's time for me to take it to another level. From my mind and then to my garage comes the new show NoStyleGia (play on the word Nostalgia) which will be my vehicle of bringing more exclusive content similar to what I have posted on my blog 1x4yourmind.com (which have garnered over 1 million hits around the web). The show will be a throwback concept of the classic Yo! And Rap City episodes from the late 80's into the mid 90's. I will be going on location to different spots to shoot shows with some of the pioneers of Hip Hop as well as Dj's and Producers who helped solidify rap music back then. You will also get that R&B videos like Mona Lisa, Total, Horace Grant and so forth. Trust me the show is going to be dope and it will debut tomorrow 10/16/2008 on my online television station www.mogulus.com/uan (had to push date back one day for technical reasons) with a version on Vimeo as well.

What I need is the continued love that most of you have show to videos like the NaS Epk, The Wu Tang documentary and especially the lil homie Dalton Sherman! If you want to exchange for commercial spots within the show then let's build on that. Hit me back and let me know if you are a willing participant and will be an official weekly affiliates of the show. Below is a promo video :44 secs that advertises the show.

For those of you too young to live the Arsenio Hall live experience.....I feel bad that you will never feel that joy of entertainment. For those of us that were around for this golden era of television then you know that if Arsenio loved a guest he would damn near dance a jig for them, but if he felt that you were a fraud in any way then he showed no mercy (see Milli Vanilli dissed by Arsenio). Here is another example of the thrashing being laid down by Mr. E.T finger himself and the victim just happens to be one of my top 10 one hit wonders Vanilla Ice.

Was Vanwinkle a culture stealer or a genuine Hip Hop head that happened to be white? You Make The Call

So I was watching a clip online today and it made me think about the art of being a Hype Man and who is the best at it. Well if you know and follow Hip Hop then immediately you are thinking about two people for the top spot. After mentioning one of these two you may find it hard to even think of other on stage side kicks that can hold a mic to the spastic kings. Well what I have done is compiled a list of the top 5 Hype Men that I have witnessed live and felt the energy in the room change when they tell it too.

5: Memphis Bleek

Most people diss Memph Bleek because you his inability to make Jay-Z level records (no one can do that), so while dealing with that and the internal turmoil of The Roc Memph Man decided that he was gonna ride for his homie. While he isn't the most animated on stage the chemistry is undeniable between him and his big brother. I do hope that Bleek comes back on the solo artist side of things, but until then catch him rocking Coming of Age part 6 Live.

4: Too Big M.C
Most of the youngins are thinking "Who the hell is Too Big M.C??!?" well kiddie Too Big MC was the overweight right hand/ hype man for one of the world's greatest entertainers.....MC Hammer. You can imagine that to be a hype man for hammer you have to have charisma and stamina. Too Big had both (remember this was the late 80's when thinking about Charisma) all the way down to the white shade (waaay before Fabo) and the Tick Tack (white)Stacey Adams. Too Big didn't stay around long though I heard it was because he didn't feel he got enough shine and his brother (who was Hammer's Dj convinced him to bounce a go solo. I bought the album, but not "Too" many other followed suit.

3: Lil John
Although Lil' John had a rap group I've only heard him rhyme maybe 4 times and that's because he knew what he was good at.....Getting this thang crunk! Way before Chappelle made him a household name/caricature Lil' John was inspiring kids everywhere to punch somebody dead in the eye. I mean he is the king of crunk so why wouldn't he be on the list. By the way "Who You Wit" is still may favorite hype man Lil' John song

2: Flava Flav

I you don't know who this man/legend is then you must have grown up on that island in Alaska with Russia in the back yard. Every time I hear "Bass in your face London.." I immediately have a change in moods. Flava is the godfather of hype men every where and where he differed was because he was the mascot of Public Enemy Professor X was suppose to be the hype man, but no man can shine when Flav is on stage. I wonder if this is the underlying reason why they had beef for a minute.

1: Spliff Starr

It was a hard decision between Flav and Spliff, but Spliffa Spliff really embodies the Flav character and adds what appears to be a crack baby's energy and the combination is pure FIRE! IF you watch Spliff and Busta perform today you will get the same adrenaline rush you got 10yrs ago. Just as Flava Flav is the godfather of hype men Spliff Star is very much so the King of hype men.

Honorable mention: Fatman Scoop

Fatman Scoop a.k.a Big Colorado (does he still go by that?) is only an honorable mention because he was more of a freelance hype man. With one of the most distinctive voices in the music game his tone alone commands attention. I would hire him to back my artist up anytime!

Don't agree with the list then tell who you think should up here.

Driving home last night I had my Ipod on shuffle all songs and out of Ispace comes Romeo & Juliet. My first reaction was how the hell did this get into my library?!?! then I remembered that this was "the jam" for a minute back in the late 90's. I do believe that Sylk E. was from the West Coast, but aside from that and the fact that this was her only hit I know nothing else about her.

Where is Sylk E. Fyne?

This is one of my favorite documentaries so far! I was never a breaker, but my cousin used to be the illest uprocking and pop locker in South Georgia.

This documentary is entitled The Freshest Kids and it's produced by the Hip Hop documentarian (is that a word?)himself QD3. I will say that it is rather lengthy, but the inspiration it provides it timeless. It's exciting to watch the inception, rise, brief fall and the ultimate preservation of the art of breakin'. Enjoy!

I was very surprised to see that the funny man Pauly Shore was a B-Boy!!
