This is sooo funny because I was just having a heated conversation with a guy last night about how McCain (I feel) and his 'buddies' were behind this conflict in Georgia to make him look good. Now less than 24 hours later I see a clip of Vladamir Putin making the same acussations publicly. I will not bore you are pretend to be a political guru (I can hold a decent conversation though) so just peep the video and read the write up I grabbed from cnn.com

SOCHI, Russia (CNN) -- Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has accused the United States of orchestrating the conflict in Georgia to benefit one of its presidential election candidates.

Russian PM Vladimir Putin has accused the U.S. of orchestrating the conflict in Georgia.

1 of 2 In an exclusive interview with CNN's Matthew Chance in the Black Sea city of Sochi Thursday, Putin said the U.S. had encouraged Georgia to attack the autonomous region of South Ossetia.

Putin told CNN his defense officials had told him it was done to benefit a presidential candidate -- Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama are competing to succeed George W. Bush -- although he presented no evidence to back it up.

"U.S. citizens were indeed in the area in conflict," Putin said. "They were acting in implementing those orders doing as they were ordered, and the only one who can give such orders is their leader." Watch Putin accuse the United States »

White House spokeswoman Dana Perino blasted Putin's statements, saying they were "patently false."

"To suggest that the United States orchestrated this on behalf of a political candidate just sounds not rational," she said.

U.S. State Department deputy spokesman Robert Wood concurred, and labeled Putin's statements as "ludicrous."

"Russia is responsible for the crisis," Wood said in an off-camera meeting with reporters in Washington on Thursday. "For the Russians to say they are not responsible for what happened in Georgia is ludicrous. ... Russia is to blame for this crisis and the world is responding to what Russia has done."

When told that many diplomats in the United States and Europe blame Russia for provoking the conflict and for invading Georgia, Putin said Russia had no choice but to invade Georgia after dozens of its peacekeepers in South Ossetia were killed. He told Chance it was to avert a human calamity. iReport.com: First-person accounts from the center of the conflict

The former Russian president, still considered the most powerful man in the country, said he was disappointed the U.S. had not done more to stop Georgia's attack.

Putin recalled he was watching the situation in Georgia and South Ossetia unfold when he was at the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games on August 8.

He said he spoke to U.S. President George W. Bush, also attending, who told the Russian prime minister he didn't want war -- but Putin spoke to CNN of his disappointment that the U.S. administration didn't do more to stop Georgia early in the conflict.

Also Thursday Putin announced economic measures which he said were unrelated to the fighting with Georgia. Nineteen U.S. poultry meat companies would be banned from exporting their products to Russia because they had failed health and safety tests, and 29 other companies had been warned to improve their standards or face the same ban, Putin said.

Putin said Russia's health and agricultural ministries had randomly tested the poultry products and found them to be full of antibiotics and arsenic.

While Putin repeated that the bans were not related to the Georgian conflict, they indicate the measures some Western countries -- particularly in Europe -- fear if Russia goes on a diplomatic offensive.

I first watched this interview about two years ago I guess. It is part of a complete documentary (will post more vids later) done by a European in the 80's. The reason this clip is so special is not because it shows Rev. Run in his (worldy days) cursing Lyopr Cohen out, but because of the beginnig of the clip with DMC. You see this intro provided the inspiration to Life The Great's video Stupid Fresh which I spoke about HERE. In my treatment I copied this shot almost frame for frame, but for time I had to cut alot of it out the actual video. Watch the clip one because it's interesting viewing and two because you will get a better understanding of what we do and how it's all inspired by Hip Hop from yesteryear! The other cats on the Retro album tip don't do the knowledge like this and therefore I can them gimmicks.

Enjoy:

Life The Great is working on an all new stage show for this event that will be held at Smith's Olde Bar in Atlanta which is not the typical venue for a Hip Hop event but these are not your typical performers either.

Here is another one from the stash of classic Hip Hop Material for the masses. A lot of youngin's my not know who this duo is or the contribution they made to Hip Hop so for that you will have to do your own research. All I can say was they were so powerful that this line "..drive a red Sterling and the seats recline" by Greg Nice made that car famous outside of New York. Here is a great interview from the DWYCK crafter's themselves.

*note* i never would have guessed that Smooth B wrote for Bobby Brown back in the day.

Do you remember when BET used to go off air completely around 2am or so? They were still in infant stages and didn't have enough programming to fill the slots. Well as time progressed I guess the network heads figured that Jesus could cover the expense so they opened the airs back up to all kinds of miracle workers across the country. After years of that con game Bob and friends noticed that they could make a lot more money with blaxploitation so BET UN-Cut was born and it had a great run until Nelly came through and murder the game which in turn murder the show. Now Debra Lee is thinking what can we do to calm this bible fanatics down for a while.....In comes Pastor Thomas Kerney!

I remember coming home from a performance and it was 4:15am so while in the shower I turn on the T.V and I hear "through GAWD!!! you will be healed. now order you prayer package" I was on the floor in tears and immediately called everyone in my circle to watch BET and it's been a tradition that if we get home or are around a TV at 4am we catch Kerney. On a serious note though I really feel sorry for the people that call in believing this guy is anything other than entertainment.

Man this is sad....How many times have we heard about people dying in this fashion? Going out, coming home, go to sleep and never wake up (Pimp C). I couldn't imagine losing my son at an early age like this. Condolences to the Young family.

Taken from La Weekly Blog:
The Los Angeles County Coroner reported today that the son of hip hop record producer and rapper Dr. Dre has died. Andre Young Jr. was found dead at his home in Woodland Hills on Saturday morning.

Young was out the previous night and returned home around 5:30 A.M., according to Assistant Chief Ed Winter. His mother went to check on him in his bedroom around 10 A.M., found him unresponsive, and called 911. He was 20 years of age.

The cause of death is pending completion of a toxicology report.

Andre Young Sr., better known as Dr. Dre, shot to fame with the influential gangsta rap group N.W.A. He later became an artist and co-owner of Death Row Records. In 1993, he won a Grammy Award for the single "Let Me Ride." As a producer, Dre was credited with popularizing West Coast G-funk.

Dr. Dre is currently the founder and CEO of Aftermath Entertainment.

Remember when New York Hip Hop was REALLY popping? Being a military brat traveling the world I met a lot of kids and they ALL wanted to be from new York....including me! All I wore were Hoodies and Timbs and my mom hated it. "You are gonna mess your feet up wearing those boots all the time" is what she said quite often. "I'll take care of that though, don't even worry bout it" was my response every time. All day and all night I was rocking NY rap music. From Boot Camp Click to Wu Tang to Mobb Deep and of course these kids Capone & Noreaga. Of course I heard them on every Ny mixtape that was out, but it was T.O.N.Y that knocked me off of my feet. It was something about Nore's flow and delivery that brought you all the way into the beat and once there Capone would lyrically stabbed you death.

I found this video in an internet stash sometime ago and found it pretty interesting. It's hard to tell exactly when it was shot, but I'm thinking it is suppose to be the EPK for the War Report album. My man Tragedy Khadafi a.k.a The Intelligent Hoodlum makes an appearance throughout the whole joint and he is shackled up. I knew he put them on but never knew he taught Nore how to rhyme. Enjoy the video, but continue reading afterwards (you have to watch the entire interview to understand where I'm going with the remainder of the post).

"It's like New York's been soft every since Snoop came through and crushed the buildings" - Jay-Z

In the video above you heard Tragedy and actually the whole Queens talk about the New York New York song that The Dogg Pound did right? Well a lot of people think that's what officially jumped the whole East - West beef off, but all I know is that is what a great time in Hip Hop for me. Snoop and The Dogg Pound killed this song and when they got the balls to come to NY to shoot the video it got even doper (is that a word?). I remember hearing that all their trailers got shot up, but the show went on and the video was even doper (there it is again) than the song itself. Here is the video:

Dogg Pound - New York, New York

After this song dropped (as mention in the EPK) Capone, Noreaga, Tragedy and Mobb Deep decided to retaliate with LA, LA which in my humble opinion murdered the Dogg Pound version. This song started out as just a freestyle for mixtapes, but it caught on so fast they decided to go back and have Marley do a beat and run with it. Til this day I still like the original freestyle version where they just looped the ending of New York, New York, but of course they would never get that cleared. If you didn't get the Craig G and S&S tape HERE download it and on there is where you will find the original version of LA, LA. (If anyone has this version in HQ MP3 please hit me with it 1x4your mind (@) gmail (dot) com) Here is the LA, LA video done straight NY style!

Just call me Tone The Jeweler because I keep bringing those gems! This rare stone is called Compton and it's in a band of brothers called N.W.A and needless to say it's priceless.

This clip appears to be pre 100 Miles And Runnin because they are already on and Ice Cube is no where to be found. In it you get a brief glimpse of what it was like to be in the studio with legends. If you listen very carefully you hear Eazy speaking two of his favorite things that ironically led to his demise.

random things I noticed:

1: Was that a Michel'le promo jacket Yella Boy was wearing?

2:The brother in the back chillin? Do you know who that was? (of course I know, but I'm asking you)

3: Every time I see Yella I don't get the Gangster vibe.

Happy Friday everybody! I am feeling so Hip Hop this morning I feel like I'm 20 again because it's "...a blessing the essence of adolescent leaves my body now I'm fresh in my physical frame is celebrated cause I made it..." - NaS

Being that I am in this Hip Hop mood I want to put you guys on to who I'm willing to bet my estate will be the next coming since the great Nasir to Hip Hop. This young man is destined to be nothing but greatness not only because he is a direct descendant of African Royalty (Mansa Musa or the fact that he is a self contained musical entity (writes, produces and arranges his own music) and not even his dynamic stage show is the reason he will achieve legendary status within record time. The reason this young virtuoso will rule is because he is everything you are missing in Hip Hop. Fill in this blank: All I need to fall in love with Hip Hop again is ___________. Life The Great has all of that!

Think of all the classic Hip Hop albums you've heard. What do they have in common? Little to no features! Illmatic = one feature, Ready To Die = one feature so on and so forth. Life The Great released and album a few months back entitled The UltraSound and you guessed it, it only has one feature. Do you understand how much talent one has to have to hold down 60 minutes of music and keep the listeners captivated the entire time? How often do hear concept albums that truly have a concept? This album is superb with it's concept and song selection. I will not go into the break down of tracks, but I will say that it is inspired by the Golden Era of Hip Hop and not in a faddish way. Check for my man Life The Great, download the album, below you can view the video for Stupid Fresh and last but not least visit his myspace page where you can download the 31 Songs he release in 31 Days....WOW!!

Around 1998 I was living in Lake Charles Louisiana working at Northrop Grumman where I was modifying Boeing 707 aircraft for the AWACS unit of the Air Force. It was this mid sized town where I first began my journey into the information super highway and it was with the Web-Tv. There wasn't much you could do with this device aside from email and browsing websites. It didn't have a hard drive so you couldn't download anything, but you were able to stream media back then which was all I needed for this site that played a major part in my Hip Hop life. The site I speak of was/is 88hiphop.com ran by the Pseudo Networks. To this day I can't remember how I found the site, I guess I've always had talent for browsing. Anyway with the 88hiphop site were different "radio stations" that broadcast simultaneous video and interactive chat. Of course today any and everybody can broadcast online, but this was over 10yrs ago and riding that tip of the Internet wave. I thought it was the most amazing thing ever. back to 88hiphop...they had station like Queendome, The Cool Out and my favorite of them all Beatminerz radio with Evil Dee, Mr. Walt, Cynical and another young lady whose name slips my mind. *sidenote* There is actually a recorded show out there in cyberspace somewhere that has a question from me on the air to the producer Youglord. 88hiphop.com is the reason why I am launching my on video show online in the coming weeks. 10 years later and I still find motivation from this site. The new site is....not so much. I go back every now and then, but the feeling is not the same...I digress.

About the clip. This is a clip from a show that I did not record, but I remember watching it live online. It is my man Big L along side his Harlem crew and A.G from Showbiz and A.G. In the clip he gives a brief not as in depth interview about his views on the music biz at that time (funny but the same holds true now) as well as his contribution to Harlem U.S.A. He speaks about the new records he has coming out with Herb McGruff and Cam-ron as well as one of my favorite Big L records 'Ebonics'. Like most hip hoppers I wonder what would rap be like if we still had Big L along with the other greats that passed away. Enjoy the clip and then go do your knowledge on 88hiphop.com a true pioneer in Online Hip Hop content.

Evil Dee is on the mix...come on kick it. I love that!

Big L rest in peace

I remember reading in the Source years ago about how meticulous Nas was on the Illmatic project. They talked about how he turned down hundreds of beats from producers rappers at that time dreamed of working with, but this man had a vision for the classic album and was relentless to get what he wanted. I think it's safe to say that Illmatic lived up to his expectation probably to the level of becoming a curse because although I am a life long Nas fan nothing else came close to this album. Anyway here is a gem for you Nas pre CD era fans out there. It's the EPK for the aforementioned project....enjoy.

So I'm watching video's online today and came across the "Belly 2" trailer and after my initial thought of "Damn they are about to House Party 4 the Belly name" (for those that don't know Chris Stokes destroyed the House Party franchise with part 4..super corny and low budget)then immediately I thought about an observation I made years ago when the movie first came out and this was way before blogging. I've always wanted to speak with Hype Williams about this because he did it quite a bit in the movie, but you had to really be a Hip Hop head to catch it (any of them). In this instance which is my favorite re-enactment of them all he used the last verse of Nas' One Love from the timeless classic album "illmatic" and made it into one of the dopest visual in the movie, which wasn't hard being that Nasir painted a perfect picture with his lyrics. Did you catch that in the scene? Don't front you never knew! Anyway I took it upon myself to school you youngins and oldheads whom this brilliant sequence flew right past. Below is the verse from One Love..listen to it thoroughly then go to 4:25 in the youtube clip from Belly (Didn't feel like editing the video) and experience the genius that is Hype Williams by way of Nasir Jones. The script is damn near verbatim of the lyrics from One Love. Oh man!!! I love Hip Hop!

P.S don't run back to your blog(s) frontin like you knew either.

This cat Miilkbone is definitely in the soundtrack to my life! The year was 1995 and I met this army cat named Tony a.k.a Dj Ebony from Harlem U.S.A, but we were in Lawton Oklahoma at the time. After gaining his trust and showing him how bad I wanted to be a Dj he finally invited me up to his barracks to rock the 1200's. He gave me a crash course in mixing and blending which he did ever so eloquently. How does Miilkbone com in you ask....Well this was the first record(12") I started my training on learning on the blend the beats together so on and so forth. I was so excited about it that I went out the bought the tape, but aside from Keep It Real and Where's Da' Party At? the album was lackluster at best. I do believe the kid was down with Treach and the Naughty Crew, but I'm not sure what he is doing today. Miilkbone....Where is he now?

Remember when mixtapes were really on tapes? I had just about every New York Dj's mixtape in heavy rotation inside the '94 Honda Civic....BANGING! From Clue to Doo Wop and Dirty Harry (my favorite) to Lazy K, but there one one particular tape that I got (from Marco @ Tape Masters in Five Points downtown Atlanta) that changed my life and respect for mixtape Dj's forever. It was entitled Niggas Don't Give A Fuck! Just the title alone made me pick it up because with a name like that it had to be some ignorant shit going on in that tape. Ignorant...not really disrespectful?....yes! It was obvious that the duo didn't give a fuck about the competition because they went in SO hard with back to back exclusives of nothing but fire. I'm surprised that I didn't paralyze myself from banging my head so hard in the car. The tape opened with World Famous by M.O.P but the second track Pose A Threat is the one that sucked me in and prepared me for the ride through some real Hip Hop music. I heard Put It In ya Mouth, L.A L.A and You'll See (favorite on the tape) for the first time on this tape. I became a hardcore N.F.L crew follower because of the American Dream record on this tape.

If you happen to know either Craig G. or Dj S&S (I wonder if the numbers on the tape are still valid?)please tell them that they helped shape me as a true Hip Hop head over a decade and a half ago with this timeless mixtape. Without further ado I present to you the capsule of 1994 that holds some of the realest Hip Hop from that great year in music. Do remember (shouts to Clue) that this was taken directly from the Maxell high bias so you have to be understanding of the quality. Two links of course because there was and A and B side.....

Back then I was in the store every Tuesday buying records although I can not remember what CD I went in with intentions to buy ( I think it was The Coming by Busta Rhymes) I came out with that disc and the 13year old Latchkey Child a.k.a A+ Forever I thought the D.J dude on the intro was Funk Flex and thinking this kids has to be nice he has Flex's endorsement. Well it was Flex but the kid was still dope! From beginning to the end the album banged with standouts like Me and My Microphone, All I see (the party joint of course), Alpha 2 Omega and my favorite hands down A + Z with AZ.

He didn't do as well as I expected being that he was a young handsome fella with oldhead swagger and his lyrics were above par in my opinion. Did he write his won lyrics? He did have a follow up album Hempstead High, but I didn't get into it really. Maybe I will go get it now.

Sunday's are my family days and most of the time they are filled with hilarious moments most being courtesy of my 8yr son Maceo. Anyway yesterday was our annual back to school (supplies) shopping day which Dad is in charge of this year. I decided to take a few snapshots to provide visuals with my commentary.

The adventure starts with walking through the parking lot to the mall and seeing some rather funny bumper stickers on a white Jetta.

I had to laugh at this one because I have to be honest I've never heard his name spun this way before, but it was this one that really got me:

The hatered for this man (Barack) is so deep that it becomes hilarious to see the extent that people go to just to put him down. The part that said "Did you mean: Osama" killed me! I digress......People.

So like I said earlier, today is suppose to be strictly school supply shopping since my wife already handled the clothes on Saturday, but while in Old Navy they noticed a few items that I would like and they were drastically marked down. Off to Old Navy we go and it's tax free weekend....it's on!

The store was pretty ramshackled as was expected with school starting back the next day (procrastinators unite) , but I was still able to find a few gems in the form of polos and pants.

The best part about the shopping wasn't the fact that I got $20 shirts for $8 or $45 pants for $10, but I was most elated at the fact that I am now back down to a single X (XL) shirt and that's down from XXL which I wore for quite sometime. On top of all that I've been demoted from size 44 pants to 42 (some 40's)...chika chika yeah!

After that we skated around the mall for a minute and I ended up speaking with this kid about the military while watching these kids flip out all over the place.

After the mall we were off to the impatient mans alternative to Wal-Mart:

Here is where we scooped up all the pencil, paper and Pepto to last until 10th grade. Speaking of which when did book covers get so popular? When I was coming up we made our own book covers out of paper bags from teh grocery store. These kids are spoiled "Boy you are getting get a Kroger not Kobe book cover"

All of that walking and shopping made us hungry so now it's time to find a "Kids eat free" location and this looks like the spot for me:

So we chilled:

Then we ate:

and the night was over.....

I love my life! I couldn't have a better wife or kids. This is what living is suppose to be about ain't it? Except for a great label deal for my artist Life The Great I couldn't ask for anything else. I think I am gonna start a section on here just about my son and the crazy things he says and does on a daily basis. Anyway if you have kids be a parent and stop surfing the net all day reading blogs, but do subscribe to mine :)

It will be rare that you see me swipe a post from another blogger (which is common pratice these days), but when I stopped by Tha Aftershock and seen this I had to get him. What we have here people is the orignal Ready 2 Die album by B.I.G and to my understanding it was shelved because of sample clearances, but thanks to the internets you can have this relic in your Ipod now. I haven't listened yet so if it has dj's screaming all over it don't call me.
