So I'm watching video's online today and came across the "Belly 2" trailer and after my initial thought of "Damn they are about to House Party 4 the Belly name" (for those that don't know Chris Stokes destroyed the House Party franchise with part 4..super corny and low budget)then immediately I thought about an observation I made years ago when the movie first came out and this was way before blogging. I've always wanted to speak with Hype Williams about this because he did it quite a bit in the movie, but you had to really be a Hip Hop head to catch it (any of them). In this instance which is my favorite re-enactment of them all he used the last verse of Nas' One Love from the timeless classic album "illmatic" and made it into one of the dopest visual in the movie, which wasn't hard being that Nasir painted a perfect picture with his lyrics. Did you catch that in the scene? Don't front you never knew! Anyway I took it upon myself to school you youngins and oldheads whom this brilliant sequence flew right past. Below is the verse from One Love..listen to it thoroughly then go to 4:25 in the youtube clip from Belly (Didn't feel like editing the video) and experience the genius that is Hype Williams by way of Nasir Jones. The script is damn near verbatim of the lyrics from One Love. Oh man!!! I love Hip Hop!
