CNN (Capone & Noreaga) War Report EPK

Remember when New York Hip Hop was REALLY popping? Being a military brat traveling the world I met a lot of kids and they ALL wanted to be from new York....including me! All I wore were Hoodies and Timbs and my mom hated it. "You are gonna mess your feet up wearing those boots all the time" is what she said quite often. "I'll take care of that though, don't even worry bout it" was my response every time. All day and all night I was rocking NY rap music. From Boot Camp Click to Wu Tang to Mobb Deep and of course these kids Capone & Noreaga. Of course I heard them on every Ny mixtape that was out, but it was T.O.N.Y that knocked me off of my feet. It was something about Nore's flow and delivery that brought you all the way into the beat and once there Capone would lyrically stabbed you death.

I found this video in an internet stash sometime ago and found it pretty interesting. It's hard to tell exactly when it was shot, but I'm thinking it is suppose to be the EPK for the War Report album. My man Tragedy Khadafi a.k.a The Intelligent Hoodlum makes an appearance throughout the whole joint and he is shackled up. I knew he put them on but never knew he taught Nore how to rhyme. Enjoy the video, but continue reading afterwards (you have to watch the entire interview to understand where I'm going with the remainder of the post).

"It's like New York's been soft every since Snoop came through and crushed the buildings" - Jay-Z

In the video above you heard Tragedy and actually the whole Queens talk about the New York New York song that The Dogg Pound did right? Well a lot of people think that's what officially jumped the whole East - West beef off, but all I know is that is what a great time in Hip Hop for me. Snoop and The Dogg Pound killed this song and when they got the balls to come to NY to shoot the video it got even doper (is that a word?). I remember hearing that all their trailers got shot up, but the show went on and the video was even doper (there it is again) than the song itself. Here is the video:

Dogg Pound - New York, New York

After this song dropped (as mention in the EPK) Capone, Noreaga, Tragedy and Mobb Deep decided to retaliate with LA, LA which in my humble opinion murdered the Dogg Pound version. This song started out as just a freestyle for mixtapes, but it caught on so fast they decided to go back and have Marley do a beat and run with it. Til this day I still like the original freestyle version where they just looped the ending of New York, New York, but of course they would never get that cleared. If you didn't get the Craig G and S&S tape HERE download it and on there is where you will find the original version of LA, LA. (If anyone has this version in HQ MP3 please hit me with it 1x4your mind (@) gmail (dot) com) Here is the LA, LA video done straight NY style!
