Remember when mixtapes were really on tapes? I had just about every New York Dj's mixtape in heavy rotation inside the '94 Honda Civic....BANGING! From Clue to Doo Wop and Dirty Harry (my favorite) to Lazy K, but there one one particular tape that I got (from Marco @ Tape Masters in Five Points downtown Atlanta) that changed my life and respect for mixtape Dj's forever. It was entitled Niggas Don't Give A Fuck! Just the title alone made me pick it up because with a name like that it had to be some ignorant shit going on in that tape. Ignorant...not really disrespectful?....yes! It was obvious that the duo didn't give a fuck about the competition because they went in SO hard with back to back exclusives of nothing but fire. I'm surprised that I didn't paralyze myself from banging my head so hard in the car. The tape opened with World Famous by M.O.P but the second track Pose A Threat is the one that sucked me in and prepared me for the ride through some real Hip Hop music. I heard Put It In ya Mouth, L.A L.A and You'll See (favorite on the tape) for the first time on this tape. I became a hardcore N.F.L crew follower because of the American Dream record on this tape.
If you happen to know either Craig G. or Dj S&S (I wonder if the numbers on the tape are still valid?)please tell them that they helped shape me as a true Hip Hop head over a decade and a half ago with this timeless mixtape. Without further ado I present to you the capsule of 1994 that holds some of the realest Hip Hop from that great year in music. Do remember (shouts to Clue) that this was taken directly from the Maxell high bias so you have to be understanding of the quality. Two links of course because there was and A and B side.....
